Parts Source??

i was wondering where you guys buy your parts, and if there is possibly a list somewhere of interchangable parts with parts from other manufacturers.

i just replaced the clutches in my 11 six days 300 and the 8 friction disks cost right at 150.00!!! im used to spending about half of that for clutches.

i love this bike but if all the parts are going to cost double of what im used to spending i will be having a 2011 six days 300 up for sale!

there is a crossover list on the main page. search for crossover threads, there are quite a few listings. i get most of my gasgas specific parts from gofasters. go to the technical articles, and it will redirect you to the main page, look on the left side for the crossover list

Hi RBM,

A little off topic, a little still on.. Just wondering how many hours you had on the engine when you replaced the clutch. Did you just put new steels in? How were the old ones?? Glazed or starting to warp? Notched fingers?

I've got around 150hrs on mine now and haven't pulled the clutch cover for a visual yet.

With the 2011 sales, and the expected sales of 2012 models, you'd imagine it won't be too much longer before an after market company starts producing Gas Gas specific replacements.

Anyone want to send some parts to Barnett?

Rekluse has a complete clutch basket. I don't know if the plates are custom or if they can be used in an OEM basket. Give Rekluse a call.

I just got thru talking with a tech a Barnett and they sell a GG clutch kit with steels and frictions and springs for $186.06.
He measured the thickness of the barnett frictions and says they are 2.7mm and that the whole stack height is same as oem clutch pak.
Can one of U confirm that oem frictions are 2.7 mm? This could be an alternative to the high priced oem clutch parts.

You have to replace the whole fibers and metals. But going forward as long as you have the Barnett metals you can run the Barnett Fibers.

I will say that the OEM without being horrible to them, they seem to last an eternity.

it had right at 56 hours on it and i broke a few disks. i bought a set of friction disks from go faster but i wasnt real excited when i looked at the invoice and it was 150!!!! i also ordered a new basket from rekluse, i run the core exp setup, but when i removed my old basket a few hours ago i noticed that the ID of the basket where the gear presses in is much larger on my original basket. i emailed rekluse some pics and they said they they havent seen a gear similiar to mine.

so now this basket is going to need to be machined to accept my gear.

does anyone have an old basket removed to where they can measure the ID of the hole?

My complete clutch kit from Barnett will be in on Friday. I will get back here for a report.

BTW, $186.00 is stupid expensive. I paid $117.00 for plates, disks and springs.

yea i agree, i dont think i will be buying anything else from gofasters.

i look foreward to your feedback on the barnett setup.

GoFasters Barnett Kit

Retail on that kit is $186, GoFasters offers it for $179.99. I hardly feel accusing a "Retail" store, charging less than MSRP, is really fair.

KTM Hutt Charges $241.99 for an OEM Kit for a 2010 XC300 OEM KTMHutt.com Link

And an aftermarket offering of a DP Clutch is $217.99. DP Link

There will always be someone out there that offers at a really low price. It is too bad, Mark was the guy who was bugging Barnett to build a basket and fibers for years now, including giving him a clutch basket and recently getting them additional baskets. Who gets the sale? I am not here saying that you should buy anything or everything from GoFasters, that is not always feasible.

Ever think of giving your Local GasGas dealer a shot, even if you have to pay the dreaded Retail Price. Support the guys who are driving the sport!

Boycotting a Retail store, not a Discount store, for charging less than retail is childish.

Sorry for stepping on a soapbox. If you want my theory on the state of our economy due to a "Thrifty Consumer Economy" let me know. I have a hard time bragging how cheaply I got something.

first of all.... who said anything about "boycotting a retail store"??? from what i have read that was never mentioned. so if you dont have anything constructive to add it would probably be best if you just moved on and minded your own business.

and secondly... this wasnt a "kit". it was 8 friction disks. my point was that i can buy factory Honda disks...... 22201-MEN-A10 DISK, CLUTCH FRICTION $9.00 at full retail for nine dollars. and as im sure you know the disks are almost identical. so..... why are the gasgas disks almost 18 per disk???

a little update......

just talked to the guys a Barnett and it seems that they have discontinued offering a clutch basket for the 300 for this very reason.

they said that apparently GASGAS used a couple different baskets and a couple different gears and they didnt track the units or even change the part numbers.

they said as soon as they started shipping them they started getting calls that hole in the center of the clutch basket was to small for their gear to press in.

the shoulder on my gear is roughly 46 mm and the hole in the basket is roughly 40 mm.

i guess the only option is to put it up on a lathe and turn it.

rekluse did say to send it back to them and they would machine it out and put it all back together for me and overnight it back.

OEM Fibers from KTM, from what it looks like, you need 9 of them with a Price of $144 for the set. This is from a 10 XC300.

11 54832011000 LINING DISC FCC 04 $16.99 $15.99

I don't think the price is that all that far off.
