The Nambotin Replica 2010 Thread

I think I have the last Nambotin in Canada in my garage. Wife bought it for me. Thanks for the heads up CRF Trevor, I wanted one earlier, but was told they were all gone.

Hey no problem I'm stoked for you, your going to luv this bike! Just so everyone else knows I'm crfTrevor on thumpertalk:o That was before I became nambo-trev when I found out what a gasser can do! Let us know how the first ride goes Byron !

Well , i did the first ride last night in the Dark with the new Rekluse in the bike , Talk about a steep learning curve , Auto clutch in the dark with helmet lights !
It was very good and i think after a few rides i will be totally used to it , and it works very well indeed . I went up a real snotty hill with a corner that has lots of roots on it and i ALWAYS have had to shift down into first for this corner , NOT with the Rekluse , just kept it in second and rolled on around it , I like this thing , and on my Nambo , its just cheating

Well , after months of waiting and months of delays from Ohlins , and were talking since last May when i ordered the Ohlins steering damper , i installed a Scotts today.
I went with the over bar mount with the BRP triple clamp and bar mount
The reason i went with the new Triple clamp is well , Scotts offers it in a kit and it has rubber bar mounts , and Ive always liked rubber bar mounts.
tho it has been since June when i got the Nambo , i haven't had a damper since then , and to be real honest the front end with the Ohlins suspension is very predictable and not the least bit sketchy.
But i do like dampers and they do work in my opinion , so i got one
Now too bad we got 10" of snow last night out here on Vancouver Island , thats more than we got all last year , except up in the hills. It is melting and maybe i'll get a quick rip in tomorrow for a test.
Never had a Scotts before, my first damper on my 06 was a Motorsportz (good damper at a good price) my second one on my 09 was a GPR V4 with triple clamp sub mount ( was ok , but the Motosportz was better except for the Triple clamp on the GPR was nice)
So now a Scotts , we will see and i will give opinions on all 3 after i get some hours on the Scotts to be fair , if anyone would like my opinions that is

Aflica, I just missed you at Dave's yesterday. He has another set, looks great, really light too. I am definately interested in hearing how the damper works for you.

PS I am free to ride now - finally!

Ride ?? do you think you remember how to ??

Ok Dg , lets get the Nambo's out in force

If we get the rain were supposed to later this week and melt this white crap on the ground , want to go out back of my place next Saturday or Sunday ?

We got some really good new trails we put in this summer , trust me you'll like them and so will that fresh Nambo

hey aflica any feedback at this point on the rekluse? you seem to ride similar terrain. also did you ever get the ohlins damper?

No Ohlins , i went with Scotts
I just got tired of waiting and waiting
I went with the Scotts BRP triple clamp combo and am very pleased so far
Now , as far as the Rekluse , it is i think one of the best things Ive ever spent money on , besides my First Gasser that is
I just love this thing , no more stalling when i dont quite get enough commitment over a log , sure i got over before but the bike might be stalled , now it is just a twist and away i go
It engages real nice as far as im concerned and it also disengages very well
I think it is just plain cheating , but im all about that for sure
I have about 10 rides on it maybe a few more , and it is still spot on and right where it was after the break-in as far as i can tell
I use it as a sort of a combo clutch , i still use the clutch quite a bit (old habits are hard to break) but it is a great anti stall feature and it works like a hot damm on steep twisty hills where i just concentrate more on my line than ever before
It just instills a lot of confidence that i might not have ever gained otherwise
Would i do it again , yes to the EXP , maybe not to one of the older style clutchless versions , cause i still like to grab the clutch like the old days

Thanks for the feedback steve, I'm so curious and really want to try it but I'm the same way, I like to use my clutch in certain senarios. Was it a difficult transition in terms of noticing your running an auto clutch? If I could get the no stall aspect combined with full clutch control on hill climbs I think it might be worth it. Was adjustment hard in terms of were you prefer engagement or is it all pre determined by the factory set up of the auto clutch?

i have not had to adjust my riding in any way unless i wanted to.
It was set up to the specs and has remained so
It really doesn't have to change your riding style that much if at all , unless you want it to , that's the real beauty of this clutch

Need advice Nambo guys

Hoping this can be a place for some Nambo info and advice. Have bled orange for a long time but have two GG trialers.Am interested in a Nambo[11 or 12]for Idaho single track[6500-9500] and Utah desert. For a 57 year old B rider that is 6-5 and 270 ready to ride what kind of mods will be advised or required for setup? Never ridden a GG trailbike so how do they compare to an orange 300 or 525? Would prefer stable but precise steering and stability on choppy ground. What am I getting into here-hopefully not to far over my head! Thanks Mark

Dont worry , nothing turns like a gas gas , it is after all a overgrown trials bike
