Corporations restructure debt all the time, that is nothing new. The only concern that I see from the press release is that the production process has stopped and the banks/debtors are dragging out the process.

The economies of most Euro companies are struggling [at least that is what is reported here in the States] so I am sure that there is reluctance to restructure. I wouldn't get too worried if this only last's a few weeks.

edit: I meant Euro Countries not companies.

We expect a positive announcement next week. I have been on the phone every day with the factory and can tell you, things are working out for the benefit of GasGas.

The quicker that positive news comes, the better.

While I have no concerns over the re-structuring, and understand that it's simply a tactic to force creditors to re-negotiate, others don't seem to get it. I've heard some guys give dire predictions that the brand is dead, and even had one guy tell me he was re-considering a GG purchase due to the financial news. I hope things get settled quickly for the sake of the brand.

The Canadian Beta importer has been running around telling the world that GasGas and Sherco are going bankrupt like a chicken with his head cut off. I hope he gets his in the end. The douchebag!

Yeah, that guy has completely turned me off the thought of buying a Beta.

Good to hear that it is a "typical" restructuring.

Our local importer here says that basically he has not noticed anything different from previous years. Spare parts are supplied, e-mails are answered - and bikes are arriving late, as always.

how do you really feel?
I thought Canadians were supposed to say 'sorry' or something after a negative comment?
just kidding.
all I know about Canadians is from south park cartoon

Update

The poker game has been played and it sounds as though GasGas has won the hand. We had hoped for an official announcement this week yet, but now the lawyers are finishing up on the legalities as there are other changes at the factory as well.

We will have the official announcement sometime next week, but the factory is already ramping up to start production again! Things are good!

All the Canadians that I have met have were dirt bike riders (AHRMA CC, ISDT Reunion Rides, rmd, and the Wudi Rides). They have all been good people.

At one of the past Wudi Rides, we had a group from Ontario come down and join the fun. They rode hard, played hard, and were a lot of fun to be around.
Canadian riders, like any other rider who wants to have a good time on dirt bikes or dual sport bikes, are always welcome to join us at the Wudi Rides.

It was 70F here the day before yesterday. Yesterday, was cooler, and today started off at 35F and is supposed to get up to 55F.
I went riding last weekend, both days. I'm going riding this weekend on Sunday and a few friends are getting together for a ride down in central Louisiana next weekend.

We don't get to snowmobile down here, but we do ride dirt bikes the year around.

Good Riding!
Jim
