Place a sponge between motor and skid plate may prevent it next time.
Mounted up a new back tire and a brand new shiny set of bark busters. Gave all the nuts and bolts a once over and tied a few loose wires. Now if it would just warm up and quit raining!!

I think you may get our weather a day later. (Memphis is your location?)
I rode on NYD with two of my sons for about an hour before the rains came down steady. It was fun and a great way to start 2015.
It's been raining ever since, until yesterday. The ground feels like a sponge.
We're going back out on the trails again tomorrow, before it starts again. I don't mind getting wet, but I hate cold and wet.
Good Riding!
Jim

Won't this just retain moisture?
What does it do? I must have missed somthingThe foam trick has been around a long time, the foam keeps the mud out and a vast amount of water as well.
All you need to do is go down to a fabaric shop and find some dense foam, you want it thick enough to compress slightly when it is place between the engine, skid plate. You want enought to cover the entire bottom of the frame / skid plate area. In fact you can suff around the entire motor. I've zip tied foam to the brake pedal to help keep mud out between the pedal and clutch cover.

Sold the frame and gave away a throttle cable.
