Why do oversized PV covers do what they do?

I'll have to take a pic then, as I wouldn't know if it is the big or small one and whether the ebay item is big or small too!

If your wires exit the stator cover at 10:00, it's a 2K2 (small). If your wires exit at 2:00, it's the 2K3 (large).

So mine was the large. I put a 9oz weight on my 200 to find all it does is get to peak revs more sluggishly. Off it comes. I wonder if it is too much for the engine size.

That is what a flywheel weight does, it uses the extra rotating mass to 'slow' the revs down. It smoothes the 'hit' out and also allows the engine to be slower to rev down. It keeps the engine 'chugging' at slower RPMs as well which helps prevent stalling.

Ohhh inertia!!

What Fred said above.

You're right though, the 2k3 (heavy flywheel, wires exit at 2) on the 200 doesn't need any extra weighing, and with a weight will slow the engine down a bit much.
However, the hot combo for the 200s is the 2k2 and a small weight.
If you plan on getting a 2k2 from somewhere, then holding onto the 9oz weight is probably a good idea.

200 doesn't need an extra flywheel weight, but I love mine on the 300 for slippery work, and it makes it harder to stall.

I added an 8 oz weight to mine (2K2), it works good. Can't see adding weight to the 2K3 the bike is too sluggish as it is.

Are the weights not a different diameter?
