2013 300XC Sub Frame

Did you get a price? What all needs to be replaced on the 13's.

Jay, It will be roughly $330 for the sub-frame only. the other parts I will know more this morning from Mikel. It's gonna be just under 1k for me. Two bikes too
upgrade.

Do any of you have this part on your 300?
Per the GasGas Spain website this is only on the EC300 model.

Subframe is still plastic but looks like the added an AL plate.

Question that I have here is how does this support the seat?

Thats just the '13 change. '12 seat sat on the plastic batt box, and was like sitting on a pool toy the way it flexed and rolled. Upgrading '12 to alloy is more $$ or custom work as the seat will not work. Side panels also mount different. So as I see it now, you need subframe, plastic covers. hardware, seat, side panels as a minimum. Probably $550 - $600 when your done, for a '12. Sucks.

Would you have to replace the seat for sure, because now the battery box would no longer be a structural part of the subframe and you could toss it if you don't have a battery?

The problem is the '13 seat base had a molded in support section to engage the bracing rod on the '13 plastic subframe, and I assume this will be in the same spot as the rear welded cross member of the new alloy subframe. I ditched the batt box a long time ago and made custom support that works great but will be unusable with the alloy part. Perhaps adding a support to the '12 seat base is an option, or similar support pads like on my seat support to the alloy frame.

Another PIA is the '12 side panels won't work with the new trim pieces. Sucks because I have custom backgrounds on mine, more $$ wasted.

Someone, (John rb?) please take some detailed pics of these parts when they show up and you will see what I mean.

From looking at the parts pages comparing the number plates it sure seems like you could use your 2012 ones. I do see one small connection at the bottom on the 2013 diagram but would that really be necessary? Will see once someones actually gets these in there hands.....

I wish they would warranty this.

Has anyone else had any issues with the sub frame? It certainly is not designed to take a hit.

Yes. Looped my bike just like you and $1000.00 in parts later (just for this incident) I sold the lemon. Ill shut my mouth now about my opinion of the engineering abortion the '12 estart is.

Definitely contact motocross center for the best prices.

Im sorry to hear of your crash. Glad you are ok.

My response from greenlandmx said that I would have to purchase the side panels also.
I'm not upgrading until I absolutely have to, and it may never happen. I will have this bike for awhile. The wife wants to look at conversion vans to haul the kids and the boat around now.

The mounts on the bottom of the side panels are a great improvement I added them to my bike they are just clip nuts so drill a hole in the sub frame spars and panels. You can use 12 panels cut the bottom tab off then they are basically the same part but the 13 panel offers more plastic where it bolts to sub frame for a stronger hold

Nick, I'm not so sure about drilling the plastic sub to accept the '13 side panels.
just a thought.

That's the only difference between 12 & 13 they are the exact same spars. And the part you are drilling a hole is the back side which already has a slot for the side panel. So I am not seeing how it would weaken it in any way

OK I stand corrected about the side panels. I thought bolts replaced the tabs based on GGs description of the '13 changes. Sorry about that should have looked at the drawings.

The bolts do replace the one tab but the bottom part near the pipe is wider on the 13 but you can mcgyver the 12 stuff
