2013 Pics

The 250 and the 300 have essentially the same top end power, but the 250 is much easier to control in the rooky and rooty tight woods where traction is not as plentiful.
I personally think that the 300 is better for a lazy rider and the 250 is a better race bike.

I Love the ignition switch. In tight gnarly trail, I normally ride in the MX (sunny) setting, unless the terrain is really steep and I'm not being aggressive with the throttle. In the open, I always ride in the MX setting, because it carries the front end better with the higher and longer rev potential.
But... when I screw up and lose all my momentum on a climb, 1/2 second later the thumb hits the switch to "rainy".

Robby,
When you get the new bike, are you going to bring it over so I can ride it? Please!

Good Riding!
Jim

Come ride my '10 Jim !

I have rode and owned many different bikes as well. Husky, husabergs, ktm and jap bikes. I had never been on a gasgas untill about 5 months ago. Thats when I jumped the gun and bought a new 2011 250 six days. After that first ride, the spark was back. I thought I was tearing it up and having a good time on my old bikes. Not like this. Everything about the bike fits me like a glove. And the right out of the box, stock. I am sold on gasgas. Parts are easy to get, support is great and to top it all off its just a great bike. I will own gasgas from now on. Just like everyone on here says, "you just need to ride one and you will understand"

Glowing endorsement for the GGOR site!:D

I have at least another six weeks before the doctor releases me to resume normal activities after the shoulder surgery, so that I can ride again. After that, I may just take you up on the offer.
Do you have a vintage or post-vintage bike? The ADR is putting on the next 2-Day qualifier style event in the AHRMA cross country series up (down for you) at New Blaine. It's going to be a fun one.

Good Riding!

Here is the answer on the seat height thing:
We are declaring that we have reduced 10 mm so the current height of 960 mm becames 950 mm.

Clay, do you know if the spring sizes have been changed. What weight rider is the 2013 bike set up for. DirtRider said that if you weigh over 160lbs. you need new springs front and rear.

Don't believe everything you read in Dirt Rider :D:D:D They couldn't figure out how to jet the bike either.

Dealer information suggests springs haven't changed. Depending on your weight, speed, riding style, color of gear etc the stockers (0.42/5.2) may suit riders through about 190#.

The stock springs seem good to me so far, at 176 lbs. nakid. I anticipated having to go up a rate but now I'm thinking maybe not. The '07 bike with a range stiffer F&R actually seems softer and rides a bit lower in the travel, probably due to the PFP fork and different linkage. DirtRider is good for putting under your chain while you lube it as not to make a mess on the swingarm and garage floor.:D

After reading all about the 12's suspension I think I am just going to change out the front and rear springs and leave the valving alone and see how it does once I get the 2013. The stock springs are too soft for my fat ass!

I am picky picky picky about suspension and the only thing I've done is set the sag and remove about 15cc of oil from the forks......I'm 160lbs with no gear. The only thing I plan to do when it's time to service the forks is add a little rebound and soften the compression a tad since my compression clickers are set about two clicks from full out.

Believe it. The forks are that good stock..........

The spring weight is the same in the '13 as it was in the'12. 5.2 shock spring and .42 fork spring. I think you should go up on the springs if you weigh more than 160. I don't think you will need to re-valve. The stock suspension when sprung properly is really good.

Robbie,
I have a source for springs for you and me. Peterbilt has a factory in Nashville and I get them there! ;)

I'll need larger springs as well.

It depends on whether I'm racing or dual-sporting with back and fuel, but I'd say the range will be geared-up between 210 and maybe 225.

5.4 and .46 in the ball park?

Yep. Those springs and I had LTR re-valve it softer for rocks.

The springs are mostly there to keep the bike up under my weight so I can use the full stroke of the suspension.

Ride it for 10 hrs or so before deciding on spring rate. And before you do get some seal grease under the wipers, the seals are stupid tight. Its a little different than your '05. Yeah, you will have to go up but maybe not as much.

My son is a pretty good B rider and weighs 200. I used a 5.8 rear and .48 fork springs.
