APT SmartCarb

Thanks for the offer Corey. I'll see where mines at. Might even start having a play again on the old bikero (or maybe the new one).

The offer stands Jake, or perhaps we work a swap of sorts. Let me know.

Trying to give everyone an update with my best information regarding the cast carbs. We have solicited numerous vendors and have narrowed down the quotes and will be selecting a new casting vendor in the next few days. Trusting the result will be higher quality castings in much higher volumes. We will resume cast SmartCarb production within six weeks of the selected shop taking our work. The process involves checking the quality and this time creating tooling for the 36 and 40mm sizes in addition to the 38 mm castings. We will announce our expanded production as soon as it begins, including a release date for the 36 & 40 mm sizes.

I have ridden the exact same bike, on the exact same day, with both the APT, and the Lectron Mounted up. Both are great carbs. Both provide huge gains over a standard jetted carb. But when I purchased my lectron 2 years ago, the die-cast version was only being "talked about" It had a release date, and I believe that date came and went, and I lost interest. Did the cast version ever come out? What is the price?

I know I'm way late to this convo, sorry...

Hi Blake,

I just got back my cast SC from Corey a week or so ago. He updated it with several changes. I hope to get it out to ride next weekend and will let you know how it performs. My closest riding is 3 hours away and a bit dicey but I hope to get out.

You know how I feel about the Lectron so this should be a good comparison ride. I now have a couple of years of use on the lectron with excellent results. I really hope the SC will work as well or better as it has some definite design features that I like.

Walt

PS, Corey has always been very responsive and helpful so +1 for that. Between the folks at Lectron and APT these are two of the best customer support businesses going. A lot of the Moto world could learn a thing or two from them.

Walt!!! Good to see you over here... I just ordered a a gasser so I decided to join over here and saw the apt thread... Looking forward to your review buddy!

I have waited to see how this thing works out and would like to put one on my new 300 but only if there are some solid / great reports on this carb .Blake, I for one will be watching your report with anticipation .

apt smart carb

I have a 38 mm billet smart carb on my 13 ec300 it is auesom. works great, had a great ride on sunday ,my son took my bike for a spin and loaded up the bikes, he did not turn off my fuel pet cock, and 3 days later i saw a puddle of gas under the bike. I removed the pipe and it and the cylinder was full of fuel.
any one had this happen?

Sounds like you need to keep riding until your tank is empty.

I figured I should update on my 2012 Gas Gas with an APTSmartCarb.

I'm loving it guys, I have 5,000 - 8,000 mile son my EC300 and most of those miles have had the APT unit on. It just works, yeah the billet Carb is a little bulky but heck if that means I don't need to do anything I'm okay with that.

I did just replace the Float Bowl gasket as it was seeping but that was not an issue just made it so the carb got dirt easy.

Do I recommend this carb, YES Highly. I know it's expensive but not to hassle with jetting and just be able to ride is worth it to me.

I shot a new video, I should get that up today and share it here.

I'm trying to install a billet Smartcarb on my EC250 but the bowl is hitting the engine case. I read this whole thread and don't remember anyone else having this issue. Is there anything I can do?

I did find that it would barely clear if I tilted it to ~70 degrees. Can I run it like that?

My cast 38mm was hitting the cases as well. I contacted APT and requested a float bowl w/o a drain. They sent me a drain-less float bowl and that fixed the problem. The bowl they sent was from a billet carb modified to fit the cast version.

No issues on my 2012 EC300, other then the chain hit the drain spot but no case issue. Are the 250cc's different in that regard!

250s don't have the reed spacer that the 300 has bet that's why no one has problems on the 300 but the 250 hits
