What did you do to your Gas Gas today?

Yesterday, my riding buddy and I rode through the 3.5 miles of super tight singletrack we've been working on; "blue flagging" small saplings that needed to be taken out to make the trail possible to ride without doing those "extreme enduro moves" in order to get the front wheel around a tree to make the next curve.
Today is "chain saw day".

See you in the woods!

Rode at cessnock, quick 40k, bike running awesome if rider isn't, got up back of tumble bee from the base but was cooked at the top, pr@ck of a hill. new shock is awesome, cessnock is so rutted after the wet week and 4wd winch teams roo-ting every hill or slip road, just adds to the experience, if your suspension doesn't work here it doesn't work. new jetting works with no overheating and machos clutch abuse. pommy front disk squeals like a mofo. Sticker kit is just about roo ted. 927 smells awesome and doesn't foul, runs crisp. If only I was 10 years younger and 20kg lighter.... Bah.

fixed my gas cap

kicked the nipple off of it in a crash. $48.70 for a new one with shipping. so figure i'd try to fix it. this is what i came up with. 180 main jet, a tap, and some locktight. should hold up unless i kick it again.

Very creative. 2 types of people come to mind, when creative repairs/field fixes pop up...Jeep guys & dirtbikers. I am a longtime/lifetime 4x4 guy, as well as dirtbiker. I've seen some damn creative repairs & field fixes.

Nice! That's a great idea. I broke the nipple off my gas cap too and threaded a barbed fitting into the cap and used a free flo no slop vent hose that has the little check valve built into it. But it was about $15 for the hose. I like the jet better.

I updated a few things. I shortened my Q-stealth. Hopefully this will have some performance benefits, but mostly I wanted less leverage on the plastic sub-frame in a crash, and I wanted the bike a touch louder. (I also shortened the little pipe in the end cap to increase flow after the turbine). I want the bike louder because out here I share trails with runners, hikers, and mountain bikers. The bike was so quiet that several times now I've almost taken someone out on a blind corner.

I also did a new tire. Maxxis Desert IT. I've had a lot of luck with these tires out here on other bikes, and I wanted the stiff carcass with the tubliss.

Sure messy using sealant as a tire lube.

I also did a CRF banjo on my brakes as recommended by some people here on the forum. That made a huge difference in brake feel! I even safety wired it since it was already drilled.

Nice work Shang! I have the same things on my list (and have had for some time). Want to cut the pipe back to hopefully reduce some spooge. May have to look at leaning the jetting off a touch more yet too.

Any have also had a banjo bolt on the ready for ages. Just never got around to fitting and bleeding. Top end time soon so I'll likely do em all at once.

If you've been inside the end cap of the pipe you can really see how it could cause the spooging. I'm not shortening the overall length would help but cutting down the little exit tube in the end cap would for sure help reduce spooge and increase flow. I only trimmed a 1/4 inch off to start with.

I hear you. My packing has to be soaked by now. Over 60hrs and while it doesn't spooge too heavily out the back, its got a nasty drip at the stinger. Plus, I just don't see a need for a 4 stroke can on a 2T :D Richer jetting in my other bike with a TC2 and runs clean as a whistle.

My packing didn't look too bad but I was dripping out the stinger as well. I would guess there was about 30hrs on it?? But I don't know for sure.

Nice shang, that shorty will also mean less oil spittle on your white plastic im guessing,i hate cleaning that on my 13!

Getting dark outside. Trying out som LED lighting this season. I might actually get by without using a helmet lamp with this setup. They are all flood lamps, big one is a 30W, the smaller are 10W. Specs say 3000 lm for 30W, and 900 lm for each of the small ones. I dont do any riding on public road, it is all close circuit. Average speed is less than 30 km/h, so I have little need for beam lights.
The big one is quite heavy and needs a sturdy mount. It is not mounted on the front number plate.
