Newer Plastic on Older GasGas show your bike

Yes, I was waiting for the correct ones (received 250 instead of 300) but this was quickly rectified. I haven't taken any photos yet with these on, but it looks great!!

The headlight stickers are the worst to fit given the shape, side panels were easy.

My only disappointment is that a few of sticker edges are lifting a bit where they go over panel bends, not too bad but of course will get worse as water/mud get in there.

Same here, same with stock 2009 plastics and now 2011 Cervantes set.
I just drill holes some corners and egdes where proplem with sticker and rivet it. black, red and white rivets at least are available.
Meybe superglue help also, must do when plastics or stickers are new...later is too late..

Thanks Jim! The previous owner told me he bought the bike new from your dealership and had it shipped to Red Wing MN.

I have enjoyed my association with Minnesota riders over the years. Next year. come down and ride the Wudi Ride with us.

Bringing this back to the top.
I'm interested in updating my 99 EC 300
The mototcross center says you must change the tank

http://www.motocrosscenter.com/ecommerce/product_info.php?products_id=2899

However it doesn't say what year to change the tank to:confused:

I would like to buy a oversized Clarke tank for the extra range. Those are available for years 2000-2006 and 2007-2010.

I'm assuming I would use the 2000-2006 fuel tank but you know what they say about assuming.

So what say you collective brain trust???

Whatever tank you find make sure it has the recess in the rear bottom of the tank for the upper shock mount. OE GG tanks would be 00'-02' that would fit with also the correct cylinder head (2000 and newer) and coil remount.

Hi guys, my 2010 was starting to look a bit tatty so this isn't exactly 'newer plastic on older gasgas' more of a freshen up with new standard black plastics and custom graphics. Unfortunately I'm not getting any sponsorship money from Rockstar but I thought the logos tied in well with the yellow number boards.

I think the 10's are super cool and you did a nice job on the graphic's....the yellow make it "pop"!

Good looking bike!

This is my 06 EC200 with '11 plastics and "2012 Carrera" stickers.
The yellow front fender looks somewhat misplaced, but it was the best could do at the time. The plan is to replace it with a red one in due time, but making the '11 fender fit the KYB triple clamps was more than I was able to handle the day I had to finish the bike for the next race.

The bike also has KYB forks off a 08 YZ250F, a Scott steering damper and a 38mm Lectron.

To boardrider247:
To add to the excellent advice above; If you look for aftermarket tanks in the US that are compatible with your project, look at the IMS tank that was made for the 2000-2002 bikes. It is perfect for the job. It was not updated when the top shock mount was moved in the 2003 models. (The Clark tank that came out in 2003/4 was designed to fit the change. I'm not sure who is offering what for the newer models.)

I love my 2011.
The only thing I don't like about the whole bike is how the radiator shrouds feel against my knee pads when I hug the tank with them on downhills. The older bikes were easier to grip with the knees, at least the way I do it. :)
The shrouds on the 2011 are smaller and that one main "rib" feels in the way as it pushes against my knee guards. (I wear inexpensive EVS knee/shin guards.) Has anyone else ever mentioned this?

Jim, I was having issues with my '10 & my Asterisk Ultra Cells, not so much on downhills but definitely on acceleration. I made me some homemade leg 'clamping spots' and they are working great. I'll try to send you pictures some time

Now that the weather is getting colder I'm looking at getting this project going again (after my 50mm zokes are bolted on:cool:)

Is this the correct tank Jim is referring to?

I did ask Mikel and he said the stock 00-11 tank would work, but ideally I would like to do a bigger tank while I'm at it.

Yes, that is the tank.

Additional and potentially useless information: I don't like the big dip in the seat against the tank. Since I tore my left hamstring in a BJEC enduro several years ago, I ride sitting down most of the time. I am 6' tall, and I "think tall", as well as preferring a flat seat across the top from front to rear; so I prefer a set-up using a Guts Racing tall medium density foam and Guts solid black gripper cover made for the tall seat foam.

After speaking with Fred about an earlier part of this tread, I've come to realize that the "sit down" aspect of my riding (mentioned in the post above) is the reason for my problem with the shrouds interfering with my knees gripping the tank on downhills.

With my sweet suspension, I can deal with it.

2010 with new look plastic and graphics. Got the goofy Dumbo ear foam handguards on for cold weather riding.

Looks nice JP4. How did you go with the airbox removal? have to drill out any rivets etc? Did you put new ones back in? I still prefer the 2010 headlight and fender. I might see if I can chase some new ones up.

I've noticed my knee braces wear alot on the the seat rail/cover/foam on the 2010 model.

Thanks Jake.

That's a 2011 plastic kit with graphics from Motocross Center - new GG logo font, I think they may have been left-over graphics from the 2012 4-t race team. Dunno for sure? The customized numberplate backgrounds are from Ride Ltd. - http://www.rideltd.com/

Anyway, no airbox mods required. I did replace the airbox covers. They were secured with some daft plastic rivet-like deal into the subframe. I couldn't figure out if there was a way to remove the rivets and reuse them, so I just drilled them out and cut an M8 tap into the subframe. Then used a button head screw to secure the covers.

I don't mind the look of the 2010 headlight unit, but the 2011+ headlight pod routes the brake hose and speedo cable behind the pod. This results in a nice clean look, and I don't think anybody else does it this way.

Cheers Jase. I've had a 2011 Cervantes kit from motocross center on stand by for months now. Removed the plastic screws into the subframe and replaced long ago. I've got some wear on the pins at the front for the airbox covers. Might have to work something out for that. Too many hrs wearing the bike out.
