The Nambotin Replica 2010 Thread

12t front sprocket? what is stock gearing? wouldn't going up in the back be better - less chain wear...

52 Supersprox I had off my Husky WR125 fit well on the back off my EC300XC.

damn thats a lot of sprocket for the back of a 300 ..
I tried a 52 on my 06 and it made it way to snappy.
I settled for a 50 as a compromise for the tight stuff ....
but even that seems a bit snappy at times.
recently put the stock 48 on as the 50 was kind of worn.
It's pretty good but I haven't been in any tight stuff lately.

Yeah the 12 is harder on chains a bit , but even then i get about a year and a half or more from my chain and have to change the front sprocket about every 6 to 8 months on my previous 2 EC's. I also have a 52 for the rear , but have not used it since my 06 bike , as i have 2 rear wheels (1 with a knobby , 1 with a trials ) and keep them both with the same setup as far as sprocket to keep with the quick change idea. I love the gearing that it gives with either a 12 front or a 52 rear ( 4.00 ) it works really well around here for me , 2nd gear is the gear im in most of the time for the tight stuff , and this ratio works with my style of riding well.

Changed the transmission fluid. Initially I found my bike was nearly impossible to find neutral, but since the first few rides it is night and day different. I initially filled the transmission with Rotella 10w40 after uncrating, and I have done the same with this fluid change as it seems to work well.
There were metal filings on the drain plug magnet but nothing out of the ordinary. The magnet sure is strong. I had a heck of a time getting every last filing off.
I've got a friend coming out for a ride this weekend. Still haven't received my bike armor, so I won't be able to thrash it just yet. The forecast looks terrible but I am remaining optimistic!

Let's hear some more! Where are you from? What mods do you have planned?

well i ordered a hyde combo skid plate and scorpion rad braces, there supposed to be coming out with the front covers this fall so ill get those then, i also ordered some new style cycra hand guards and bike bonz mounts(there awesome for your handguards and look cool too!) the dealer selling me the bike is going to jet it for me, were at 5000 feet in calgary here so he got a jd kit for it. ive also ordered some fastway pegs cause im so used to them now its wierd riding on small pegs.

A note for you on the Hyde , it does have a LOT of room under it. It was meant for a 09 bike , and the 10's have a different shape pipe on them. It fits the frame ok but the space under the pipe is huge. The 2010 pipes have a way tighter bend in them. What i did and it seems to have worked out very well , is i heated up the Hyde under the pipe and frame joint on the Hyde with a heat gun and then used my floor jack to bend the Hyde up till the space was satisfactory to me. It takes a lot of slow heating and you leave the pipe clamps loose till its cool in the new bend and then tighten them up. Has held its new shape very well after 3 good long rides. It does take some time and you got to go slow and dont force it , but mine turned out good. My pipe has no stress on it after doing this , so im happy with how it worked out

thats a great tip thanks alot ! my buddy with the 250 six days was just commenting on how his 2010 has way to big of a gap with his hyde so ill defintely give this a try. i was also going to ask you guys what your weight is and if youve re sprung your bikes or kept them stock?

my suspension is stock , just been playing with the clickers for now. I must say i do like the Ohlins a lot. Way Way better than the Sachs on my 09

Steve

ok ill give it a go with the clickers to get started and go from there, i was hoping you would say that because thats what i really paid for in the bike, i was tossing around getting a six days or a tm 300 en before i found the nambo and that was a no brainer pick because of the ohlins.

I noticed that there is a big gap between the pipe and the hyde, but thought of this as a benefit as the hyde will need to bend further before hitting th pipe. It is however a larger area to collect grass and mud

I've left my suspension stock for now. I do need to set the rear preload
as I do not have proper sag. I'm a lightweight. 155lbs.

holy 155 can you get the proper race sag with the stock springs? i would think they would even be to heavy. im around 200 without gear so im thinking a few rides then send them for some springs for me.

im about 205 then gear , and it seems good for me but its all about what works for your riding terrain and style . the stuff i ride is pretty rough , and im not the fastest guy out there , so i tend to commit less than the really fast guys and i think i ask more of the springs that way as im not as smooth through the rough stuff. But , it seems to be in the right neighborhood for my way of getting through the woods. The clickers do work and make a lot of difference when you start playing with them

thats really good to know because i thought the spring rate would be like on a stock showa or kyb thats very under sprung. i cant tell you the difference a heavier spring rate made on my old crf450x it was like night and day different bike but if you can get your race sag set up without a ton of preload maybe it will be good. the ohlins rep was at the shop when i bought it and he said also that it should be close depending on my style so ill guess i have to wait and see. its killing me i dont get it for another couple weeks but atleast it gives me time to get my parts in!!

I'm hoping I don't need a lighter spring. I'll have to make some adjustments and see. Currently I am getting poor weight transfer, but the bike tracks perfectly through whoops and rollers.
