The Nambotin Replica 2010 Thread

ya all bergs are right side drive, if you think thats weird you should try kicking one over when your used to a right side kick:)

I have and like them too, but Bike Bonz can break in a bad get off. Use a brass M8 bolt to avoid this. You bend or break the bolt instead of the mount, been there done that.

Disk Guard

Scotts has a beautiful and beefy guard for the Gassers

As I have posted previously I made one for $2.50 and bolted under the swingarm off of the rear brake setup.
It got the wrath of a few on here about being not strong enough and the promise that it would rip oof the rear brake bolt holes.
At the time it had definitely had quite a few decent hits but the inevitable happened in a very rocky trial not long ago.
The protector broke off and snapped through the rear brake mounting holes.
So , to those who predicted it....you were right.'
Actually I think it may have been Skidad himself.
So in short, go the Scotts if you want a decent protector .
Cheers Mark

That is the problem with a new generation bike, that was a similar reply to my request for steering damper ... but gofaster is working on that and it should be ready by the end of Aug

ok so i got the nambo out finally,2 rides and some quick observations and a few questions. so immediately off the start of the ride i feel as though the throttle is a touch to delicate for my liking. i luv the power but in first gear im finding i really gotta handle the throttle with care in fast tight single track! sooo im wondering if anyone has experience with the g2 throttle cams. i just want to take a little off the initial roll on hit especially when its by accident in tight stuff going hard could end up bad for me. secondly he bike handles rediculously well for me and the faster i go the better it gets, i am definetly to heavy for the fork but the shock is close, could probably go up to a 5.7kg/mm spring. i also found that im a little humped over in attack postion, i put my fastways in the low boy position and still think i could use an inch of riser. im 6'0 and 220 fully geared up. has any others felt any of these small problems?
overall i luv the bike, its extremely linear power and very tractable and just what i hoped for with suspension(will be crazy good when sprung right!) just thinking change throttle cam and maybe add bar risers(dont want to waste a great twin wall bar)let me know what you guys having been feeling with your nambos? any small gripes?

my only gripe IS the Renthals , i bought a set of Hebos to replace the Renthals. The 2 piece design wont allow me to slide the clutch reservoir down the handle bar as far as i like. Plus i dont like cross bars . Im riding at about 220 also , but im 5'10" and i find it a good fit for me.

I run the g2 on my 06 300 worth the coin .... however you might be able to experiment a bit by shaping the plastic bit on the stock throttle. Flatten the curve a bit. If you knew someone with a g2 you might be able to copy the profile. I've got the slowest profile on mine and I still got to pay attention to the throttle

aflica did the hebos have a bigger rise than the renthals? besides the crossbar the rise on our bars is 99mm(same as pro-taper charmichael bend!)so its pretty high already. do the hebo's feel higher to you?also your the same weight as me but i feel the forks are to soft and even with quite a bit of preload i cant quite get my static and race sag bang on with my shock(even though it feels pretty damn good!)did you manage to get it dialed? i think ill try 2 more rides with the stock throttle cam and see if i get a little more used to it,if not ill grab the g2 set-up. one thing that really stood out for me was the incredible brakes, they are absolutely awesome

hey guys just a quick note on our renthal twinwall bars, i phoned renthal today and asked if its ok (safe) to remove the crossbar and they said YES! it is completely safe as long as there 1 1/8" twinwalls but it is NOT SAFE for the 7/8" twinwalls. just thought id let you guys know as i wanted to mount my gps there but the crossbar was in the way and didnt want to waste a nice set of bars!

you can also bend that bar, i did it on my kx to fit the scotts damper under it, that was on the 7/8 bar. You can also buy a bent cross bar from renthal, but it is so easy to bend it yourself

Scorpion Racing Radiator Frames

I recently installed a set of Scorpion Racing's radiator frames. They are a high quality, stout product. I did however run into a problem when installing these frames.
Steve designed the frames around a bike that had the stock louvers swapped side for side and upside down. I had to swap my louvers and install them upside down. Steve figured it is more of an advantage to have the louvers upside down, that way they can't "scoop" mud into the rads. He is however going to lower bottom crossbar so that customers can leave their louvers stock. When sitting on my bike, the right louver had the factory horn installed on it. It would be possible to move the wiring to the left side of the bike and reinstall the horn, but I am simply going to leave the horn off.
I have included some pictures to highlight the issue. I still highly recommend Steve's products. Swapping the louvers side to side is very easy, and his frames provide unrivaled protection.

Continued

The other fit issue is with the bottom grommet on the radiator supports. Simply remove the grommet and all is well.

I have always run my louvers upside down. I find it stops some of the mud which is flicked upwards from the front wheel from clogging the lower part of the fins. I also found the upper forks don't hit the louvers as much when on full lock.

not sure if there is a mount yet for the steering damper, i know gofaster is working with scotts to get one for the 2010's at teh moment that should be out soon

just thought id drop a quick line on the G2 throttle cam system i just installed. the stock throttle cam on the nambo is identical in profile to the most agressive cam (cam100) which is likely why its realatively touchy(in my opinion). i installed the second cam of the three(cam200) and will give an update after saturdays ride, you can already feel just by the throttle turn there is a longer turn on the tube. on another note the throttle tube is very smooth in action. a bit smoother than stock and just feels really nice!

nambo-trev, the G2 throttle cam, the 'aggressive' one you are talking about, is it similar to a 1/4 turn throttle ? i want to try a throttle that requires less movement basically, and am wondering if this is the option.

Thanks
